The key to this high paying and gratifying career is education, training and certification. To be clear, this is not one of those occupations one can enter into with little to no education.

It is also not one of those jobs one can master through, OJT, better known as “On The Job Training.” Make no mistake about it, Radiation Therapist Training is rigorous and additionally, it can aptly be described as arduous.

Numerous men and women who have successfully navigated the schooling, went through the specialized training, received their certification and license, will tell you the process is absolutely no walk in the park.

Under no circumstance should you take any training from any school or from any Radiation Training facility that is not accredited. Do not instantaneously or automatically assume that a school is accredited simply because they boast of having the appropriate credentials.

Countless “Diploma Mills” and “Degree Mills” use all types of tricks, scams and deceptions to throw off naive individuals. These fictitious schools will go so far as creating their own fake accrediting agencies in order to dupe unsuspecting students. This point is so crucial, that it is worth belaboring.

If you take Radiation Therapy Training at any of the Radiation Therapy Schools not accredited by one or more of the recognized accrediting agencies, it will be as if you never attended school at all! No one will accept your diploma or the accompanying training as valid. Can you imagine spending two years of your life taking Radiation Therapist Training only to be told that your diploma is worthless because the school you attended is not accredited?

A wise man once said, “A word to the wise will always be sufficient.” Heed this caveat with ever fiber of your being. Here’s the issue with only having that diploma or certificate; your chances of finding employment are going to be slim. The market is filled with individuals who have these diplomas and certificates. They are competing against those who have acquired associate’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees.

Suffice it to say, that a person who has a bachelor’s degree and Radiation Therapist Training, is going to be deemed a much better candidate to potential employers than a person who only has a diploma or certificate. Consequently, the question is asked, “What would be the best route to take for Radiation Therapist Training?” The answer would be, to compete on a level playing field and obtain the best of the Radiation Therapy Jobs, you need a bachelor’s degree!

This is just the law of supply and demand in effect. More and more employers have raised the bar because of what is at stake. In these positions, employers want the crème de la crème. Think about it! Radiation Therapists are responsible for helping heal. They work hand in hand with medical doctors and other health care professionals. As previously stated, this is not a position a person can slide into with little to no training.

After the schooling, most employers require that Radiation Therapists be certified and then, most states now require Radiation Therapists to be licensed. Moreover, continuing education and updating certification is vital in this career field.
